GEO Group Acquires Another Company

Looks like the GEO Group wasn't satisfied with its previous expansion, when it purchased the third-largest company in the country, Cornell, which significantly increased its capacity.  They just acquired another company, called Municipal Corrections Finance, L.P., which adds another 10,000 beds across 11 facilities to its total capacity

  1. I have worked for two private, for profit companies that fill a need where the state or government have failed because of bureaucracy that prevents the ability to make necessary changes to the way it does business on a short notice. Private companies fight for these contacts and do above and beyond what is necessary to be competitive, remain in compliance while still making a profit. State & government run agencies constantly complain that money and resources are not available to them and cut corners and eliminate critical positions just to stay afloat thereby adversely affecting the consumer group they service. Why do these for profits keep renewing those contracts? Because they meet the challenge, have the money, and the resources and provide quality service!

  5. I like the first point you made there, but I am not sure I could reasonably apply that in a postive way.
